Looking deep

I look as deep as I can
up and down rolling hills.
In among and through
vegetation looking like wilderness veins
running through the Mississippi Valley
croplands of Wisconsin.
A distant red barn’s silo companion,
a gray finger pointing to the heavens,
to the green to blue contrast laser sharp.
A bald eagle glides the summer thermals
in effortless clockwise circles.
To the north, the Maiden of the Cloud,
angry tantrums flashing in the distance.
Dwarfing the miles to spite the vastness
of the sky whose open arms willingly embrace her
and to new heights of majesty fly
and everything absorbing the
golden life of the waning sun

This could happen any where on earth
but right now it’s here with me
a gift to those of us that swoon
with living in this life
I notice my left hand clenching and opening
like my fingers could hold it all
feeling the texture of the world
as it pulses in my body...
a dizzying kiss from God
I look deep so I will remember
